The Sumpter Township Police Department said an arrest warrant has been approved by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office charging both the child's mother, 24-year-old Candice Renea Diaz, and her boyfriend, 28-year-old Brad Edward Fields with felony murder, murder in the second degree, child abuse and torture.

Police records also paint a chaotic scene at the couple's home where Fields was accused of assaulting Diaz, shooting her dog and then shooting himself.

Officers and the girl's family tried to revive her with CPR, police said, but she had to be rushed to a hospital in Ann Arbor, where she was eventually pronounced dead. Responding officers noted the child had "obvious severe burns about her extremities".

The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner ruled the girl's death as a homicide since there was enough evidence of multiple injuries and signs of battery on the victim's body.

Police say Diaz and Fields are driving a 2002 black Chevy Cavalier with the MI license plate of DTR1854.

And now, Wayne County prosecutors have accused the girl's mother, 24-year-old Candice Diaz, and the mother's boyfriend, 28-year-old Brad Fields, of torturing and killing the girl, local police announced January 8.

If you see Diaz and Fields, you should not confront them but call police. She would run around the house when we had her always with a big ole smile on her face", adding, "Keep flying, Gabby.
