"He is scheduled to address Muslim intellectuals, scholars and clerics at 6.30 pm tomorrow", they said.

This Friday, Hyderabad is set to witness a historic event, the first in 325 years, when the President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, visits the grand Makkah Masjid here to address the weekly congregation.

Rouhani, who will be reaching Hyderabad directly from Iran on Thursday, will attend various programmes during his two-day stay before proceeding to New Delhi. The visiting Iranian Prez will deliver a special address at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) on Saturday.

"During the forthcoming visit of the president of Iran, both sides would review the progress achieved in bilateral relations and also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest", MEA officials said.

According to reports, the Iranian President was invited to the country by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a year ago.

India-Iran bilateral trade stood at $12.89 billion in 2016-17, according to figures provided by the External Affairs Ministry.

India, Afghanistan and Iran have been engaged in trilateral cooperation on Chabahar which will lead to establishment of an "International Transport and Transit corridor bet-ween India, Afghanistan and Iran".

India and Iran have robust economic and commercial ties covering many sectors though it has traditionally been dominated by Indian import of Iranian crude oil and the country continued to engage with Iran at the time of sanctions.

"He will land in Hyderabad on Thursday evening".

He will also visit Qutub Shahi Tombs at Golconda.

The port is expected to be operational by the end of 2018 with New Delhi committed to developing a free trade area around the port, and finally completing the loop with a $1.6 billion railway line to Zahedan, situated near Iran-Afghanistan border.
