Representatives from Bluepoint Games recently sat down with Eurogamer to discuss the creation of the PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus, during which they also let slip a few details about the studio's next project.
If you are a developer who wants to get in on the secret, why not apply for a job at Bluepoint.
"This project [Shadow of the Colossus] served us as a great point of growing the art team to the point where we can take on a full triple-A game major scope of art content". They have aims to improve the art pipeline as well as improving the engine, the workflow of artists and such. The site asked if Bluepoint might make an original game of its own, and Thrush responded by confirming that's not going to happen-not yet.
Technical director Peter Dalton added that Bluepoint grew in team size and employee skill level with the Shadow of the Colossus project. Although the developers did not give out much on the upcoming next game, they certainly did say, that they are really excited about their next project. At the time, no definitive reason was provided, though it being more than nine years old isn't a bad one.
In E3 2017, Sony revealed that Shadow of the Colossus, the classic game from the PlayStation 2, will be receiving a remake for the PlayStation 4. Or, it's possible the trademark has something to do with a (said while whispering) PlayStation 4 remake.More news: QB-needy teams have reached out to Drew Brees' agent
Some reports have hinted that Bluepoint could be doing a remaster of Demon's Souls, who's online servers recently shut down, but the only evidence supporting that theory now is the studio's recent projects have all been Sony related.
The bad news is that, until now, Bluepoint Games has not given any clue about the remake they are working on, so we cannot think of what it can be.
All of this should be 100 percent digested as a rumor, however, with the original game's server's recently shutting down, the trademark filing, and Bluepoint revealing its next game is another remake (and a bigger one at that), it feels like a flawless storm all pointing to a Demon Souls remake for the PS4.
The task of remaking Shadow of the Colossus was a enormous one for Bluepoint, which needed to expand its art team to fulfill its obligations for the project.
