Gotsis was a 2nd-round pick for Denver in 2016. Afterwards, Gotsis "took her home where he raped her", according to a description of the woman's account.

The Denver Broncos' Australian defensive end Adam Gotsis was arrested last week in connection with a 2013 rape allegation, the National Football League team confirmed on Monday.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the charge stems from an incident that took place on March 9, 2013 while Gotsis was enrolled at Georgia Tech.

"We immediately reached out to law enforcement and have proactively co-operated with all aspects of the investigation while maintaining communication with the team".

The police incident report said Gotsis surrendered himself to the Fulton County Jail on March 7 on a strong-arm rape charge, according to The Post.

He is accused of overcoming the will of a 25-year-old woman, and the victim reported the incident on February 1.

Gotsis was released from jail on a $50,000 bond.

Gotsis grew up playing AFL in Melbourne before making the move to American football with the Monash Warriors. "Our organisation was aware of his arrest on 7 March, and it is our understanding that no determination has been made at this time as to whether any charges will be filed".

The Denver Broncos released a statement saying the organization takes such allegations very seriously.

Gotsis' attorney, Sara Becker, denied the allegations in a statement issued later Monday.

Gotsis played in all 16 games for the Broncos in 2017, starting 13 of those games while recording 41 tackles and two sacks.

"Georgia Tech learned of the arrest today and therefore has no additional information at this time", Georgia Tech said.
