Kung Fury - the movie - will be a sequel to this short.
Michael Fassbender has joined the cast of the action-comedy Kung Fury, alongside David Hasselhoff, which is based on the cult 2015 short film of the same name. However, it went on to become a hugely successful cult hit, clocking up over 40 million views.
The X-Men: First Class star will play the leader of the Thundercops, time-travelling law enforcers who have to fight the evil Kung Fuhrer (Adolf Hitler). After a Thundercop dies, causing the group to disband, a mysterious villain teams up with Hitler to "attain the ultimate weapon".
Obviously, Kung Fury is something of a spoof that pays tribute to '80s martial arts films - something that should be even more fun to see when on the big screen.More news: Former Equifax CIO faces insider trading charges
David Hasselhoff had a cameo in the original Kung Fury, sung its theme tune True Survivor, and starred in the official music video. The film will be produced by Sandberg's Laser Unicorns' banner, KatzSmith Productions - which consists of David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith and Aaron Schmidt - Philip Western and Conor McCaughan.
As the Kung Fury II casting news broke, The Daily Beast published a report on a restraining order request filed against Fassbender by his then-girlfriend in 2010, later withdrawn in 2012.
