Netflix's Dan Gilroy-Jake Gyllenhaal Film Sets Ensemble

Dan Gilroy’s Thriller Will Be a ‘Nightcrawler’ Reunion Brad Gullicks

The mystery Netflix film, which is to be written and directed by Gilroy, while headlined by Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo, may not have a title to announce, but its revealed cast members not only tout a bit of Netflix corporate synergy, but carry some legitimately impressive names, according to Variety. Further narrative details are being kept under wraps. Also joining the cast are John Malkovich, Zawe Ashton, Tom Sturridge, Daveed Diggs, Toni Collette, and Stranger Things' Natalia Dyer.

Dan Gilroy, the writer-director of 2014's critically acclaimed psychological thriller Nightcrawler, is reuniting with several of the players who substantially raised his stock in Hollywood and earned him a "Best Original Screenplay" Oscar nomination. Production has already begun in Los Angeles with Gilroy shooting for a 2018 release. If Nightcrawler was any indication, a second Gilroy and Gyllenhaal team-up could mean we're in for another victor.

Hailing from England, Ashton, repped by APA, Link and Troika, appeared in the Showtime series Guerilla and in Nocturnal Animals with Gyllenhall, and she's also scored in Neil Jordan's upcoming film The Widow.

Sturridge is best known for his Tony-nominated role in "Orphans".

Stranger Things starlet Natalia Dyer, best known as Nancy Meyers on the smash series, has been cast in the movie - an addition that's clearly created to tap into the streaming giant's most successful original offering.

Daveed Diggs is repped by WME and Brookside Artists Management. She was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense 18 years ago, and she's more than due for a second Oscar.

Russo will be working with Gilroy and Gllyenhaal once again after her starring role in Nightcrawler.
