Toyota RAV4 Casts A Teaser Shadow Over New York Auto Show

Toyota will use this month's 2018 New York International Auto Show to introduce its all-new, fifth-generation RAV4.

While no official details have been released, it's likely that the new auto will feature bold, modern styling inspired by the FT-AC concept show at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November 2017 - some similarities in the cars' profiles can be seen in Toyota's otherwise unrevealing teaser image. Spy photos of the new SUV show angular headlights and a large square front grille that looks inspired by the Toyota FT-AC concept unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles motor shown in November.

The Toyota RAV4 isn't the most exciting vehicle in Toyota's arsenal, but it is still a huge seller despite it now, effectively, being a six year old model.

Last redesigned in 2013, the RAV4 has enjoyed being Toyota's best-selling vehicle in America, but it now ages behind recently revamped competitors such as the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5.

It is thought that it will be built on Toyota's new TGNA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform that underpins the C-HR, Prius and the new Auris, which was revealed at last week's Geneva Motor Show.

Expect the new RAV4 to be mechanically similar to the new Corolla. And as (recent) custom would have it, the Japanese automaker released a first teaser image today that provides a profile view of the new edition's silhouette and is sure to boost interest even higher ahead of the official unveiling.
