Check out the full press release below. You'll be able to transfer some progress from the original game to Division 2, though how that will work is not yet clear. The release date, platforms, or any gameplay details regarding the game were not announced today.
According to a blog post on Ubisoft's website which also revealed the logo for Tom Clancy's The Division 2, the game is a collective effort with Massive Entertainment leading that project and Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai also being participants.
The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine that will "help realize" the studio's "ambitions for this title".
But that is not all. It's been just over two years since The Division was first released and Gerighty indicated that there will still be new Global Events, Xbox One X enhancements, and other title updates still in store. "Earning them will unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it launches". Ubisoft has shared very little information about the second iteration.
