At least three people were murdered and two others died in tragedies linked to the scandal.

Out of 12 - mostly unconnected - victims who spoke to investigators from the Mirror, more than 70 abusers were accused.

Mr Lowe, who now lives in Wellington, just outside Telford, told the Daily Mail: "A police officer visited me last week and said they would be implementing security measures at my home as a result of this phone call". It also said authorities treated the children simply as prostitutes and therefore criminals.

Up to 1,000 children could have suffered in Britains worst known abuse scandal, where sex gangs targeted girls as young as 11, since the 1980s, a report revealed.

The problem is not limited to one city though.

Despite the horrors of high-profile sex rings in Rochdale and Rotherham gaining national attention, authorities in Telford repeatedly failed to address the pedophile rings rife within the their own community. The sentences added up to 49 years, seven years each on average.

The probe found that two predatory pedophiles began targeting girls from a local children's home in 1981. And some ended up dead. "Later it was established she has been part of an "#Asian grooming gang" since she was 11-years-old, according to the Mirror. Their house was set on fire.

"He might call himself her boyfriend but she was underage". Back then, I just thought it was her being a teenager but now we all know a lot more about grooming and the effects such abuse can have on the victims. I raised it with police when she died but nothing ever came of it.

Becky Watson was killed in an unexplained auto accident when she was 13.

'Barnardo's would support a public inquiry to understand what went wrong so the same mistakes are never made again. "I was crying out for help but it felt like I had nowhere to turn. If Becky's abuse had been properly investigated by the authorities more girls could have been saved from going through this hell".

Following allegations from victims that the sex abuse is still ongoing after almost 40-years, Tory MP Lucy Allan has demanded a public enquiry into the decades-long child abuse scandal.

Speaking outside Malinsgate Police Station, assistant chief constable (ACC) for West Mercia Police Martin Evans, also said that they were aware of all the cases that Sunday Mirror had directly referenced and the information is "not new to the police".
