BioShock Revival Reportedly In the Works at a New "Top-Secret" 2K Studio

The original trilogy of games were all well-received, with the first and third installments in particular garnering critical acclaim. "Some went to other game companies; others moved to the top-secret studio next door to work on an unannounced new BioShock game".

BioShock is one of 2K Games' most important properties, but there hasn't been much rumbling about where the series will go next.

Interestingly enough, some of the developers from Hangar 13 (who worked on Mafia 3) have joined this new 2K studio. "They're careful about not falling into the same problem every studio has, where they have too many people and nothing for them to do." explains one person now working on the new BioShock - at once revealing that they're still early in development, but that there's a clear plan in place for a core construct to build the title around. It seems like it was a source of tension within Hangar 13, everyone competing to get a chance to work on BioShock.

"In the midst of all this confusion, some employees of Hangar 13 couldn't help but look with envy at their neighbors".

Code-named "Parkside", the new BioShock title has been under development for at least the past few months.

Kotaku's report on Hangar 13 is interesting and well worth a read in its own right, and kind of sad too: Despite the problems with Mafia 3, it sounds like the studio was ready for bigger, better, and genuinely interesting things, but layoffs and a loss of leadership cost it much of that momentum. He claims that a new BioShock is in development at a "top-secret" 2K studio located in the San Francisco Bay area. "They're trying to be really smart about figuring out what the core thing is". Whilst still an unconfirmed report, if you are to believe this then it shows we can probably expect to hear some official news about this new BioShock game in the future. The low morale brought about by those internal struggles, notes a developer, has been exacerbated by the knowledge that a new game in such a prestigious series was being developed just down the hall.
