Oliver also said the show didn't buy any other items, before again reneging, and showing that Last Week Tonight actually obtained multiple other Crowe-based items at the celebratory divorce auction.

The British star, who said he'd got a bit carried away with the online shopping, later admitted that he was going to give the entire collection to the last remaining Blockbuster in Anchorage. The Blockbuster in tiny North Pole, Alaska just closed its doors this month and another in Anchorage closed in February. "Last Week Tonight" airs Sunday nights at 11pm ET on HBO.

Oliver kicked off the fun reveal explaining that a few Blockbusters had survived in Alaska long after they had disappeared in the continental USA because of slower streaming services and more expensive rates in that state, but they had slowly died off.

Among the items: A leather jockstrap from the 2005 movie "Cinderella Man" that Oliver purportedly paid more than $7,000 for.

It started weeks ago on Oliver's show, when he reported the odd celebrity auction Crowe would be holding to sell a number of choice pieces of memorabilia, including the fated jockstrap.

"Are you not entertained?", Oliver shouted, quoting from Crowe's film Gladiator, as he placed the jockstrap in a glass display case on his desk after revealing he'd purchased it. All the manager there needs to do to claim this stuff is to call within 48 hours.
