Rescuers searching for missing Indian family find woman's body

The sheriff's office released a statement Thursday saying that along with various personal items found that were consistent with a family traveling on vacation, there were several items positively identified by relatives as belonging to the Thottapilly family.

They made headway over about 12 miles of river bank during two days of searching.

The Thottapilly family from Valencia, a neighborhood in Santa Clarita, California - Sandeep Thottapilly, 42, wife Sowmya, 38, their son Siddhant, 12 and daughter Saachi, 9 were traveling through Humboldt and Mendocino County on US-101.

A woman believed to have intentionally driven her wife and children off a cliff in the U.S. state of California was legally drunk, the local sheriff's office said.

A family of four is now overlooking from California, and authorities fear They Might Have pushed in the Eel River while over a road trip.

The body was found on Friday on an exposed terrain which appeared to have covered by the Eel River within the last few days as a result of a recent weather storm which brought heavy rain to the area.

Authorities are also continuing to search for members of another family farther south along the Mendocino County coast.

The Eel River on the day the vehicle was lost. By Sunday, April 8, relatives had reported the family missing to San Jose police and an alert was sent out.

The family was last heard from in the town of Klamath, Del Norte County, on April 5.

The California Highway Patrol developed information that the family were travelling in a family vehicle, a 2016 maroon Honda Pilot.

The mother who intentionally drove her family off a cliff in Northern California in late March was drunk, according to preliminary toxicology reports.

Sandeep Thottapilly grew up in Surat city in Gujarat and settled down in the United States over 15 years ago.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, rescue teams pressed on with a search along the river bank, the highway patrol's local branch in Garberville said. "The photo of the missing family is attached herewith. we have taken help of Facebook post to reach out to more and more people in California...", Babu Subramaniam Thottapily tweeted. "They were very friendly, very outgoing", the neighbor said.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had told reporters later the Indian Consulate in San Francisco was trying its best to locate the family. Allman says DNA analysis from biological family members will be used to determine her identity.
