Shenmue I & II Getting Remastered For PlayStation 4, Xbox One & PC

Shenmue I & II remaster officially announced with first trailer

Shenmue I & II – Sega’s classics return at last

The release comes at a good time for those who've been looking forward to Shenmue III but missed out on the classics.

Earlier today, Sega confirmed that a Shenmue I & II bundle will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2018. The original Shenmue was considered to be perhaps the most ambitious game of all-time upon its initial release.

Sometimes, that revenge quest involves wandering through a suburban or urban sprawl, tracking down shady characters, and getting into bar fights. With that in mind, it makes sense to re-release the original games to try and grow the fan base.

Meanwhile, the successfully Kickstarted third installment, Shenmue 3, is now still in development and will be released later this year. Shenmue I & II is set within engrossing real-time open worlds that feel truly alive thanks to day-to-night cycles and weather changes, with a population of civilians who follow their own schedules.

Sega is promising that the new "Shenmue" releases will be the "best Shenmue experience to date", but it's not known yet if Sega is upgrading all the graphics of the Dreamcast originals to HD or even higher.

The video below is the announcement trailer for "Shenmue " 1 and 2, which Sega has just announced to be coming out later this year as a two-in-one bundle.

As well as both Japanese and English voice work, there'll also be extra features for PC players, including a choice between retro and contemporary control schemes, and scalable screen resolutions.
