The Golden State Warriors Have Shaken Off the Rust

Even with his team in an 0-2 series hole against the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is managing to keep his sense of humor.

Now, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears, Messina will again be San Antonio's head coach for the team's Game 4 outing against Golden State on Sunday.

The NBA playoffs tipped off in grand style this weekend with the Golden State Warriors versus the San Antonio Spurs Saturday. Popovich did not coach the game.

After a long career as a head coach in Europe, where he won four EuroLeague championships, the Italian-born Messina was a consultant for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011-12 before joining Popovich's staff in 2014.

It goes without saying that Popovich's focus is somewhere else.

Both Durant and Livingston suffered sprained ankle injuries during the Warriors' 110-97 Game 3 victory over the Spurs on Thursday night at AT&T Center.

Superstar LeBron James [VIDEO], who is very fond of the #Hall of Fame coach, said on TNT, "I'm a huge Pop fan". During the regular season they ranked 15th in 3-point rate after finishing in the top-7 each of the last three years. San Antonio lost the first two games of the first-round playoff series on the road. The team didn't provide further details. "She was a strong, wonderful, kind, intelligent woman who provided love, support and humor to all of us". Gregg and Erin were married four decades and have two children and two grandchildren. Erin's father, Jim Conboy, was Air Force's head athletic trainer. The Spurs confirmed the news with a statement Wednesday after Popovich had run the Spurs practice as usual. Led by Steph's personality on and off the court, the Warriors have created a season without any on-court drama.
