North and South Korean leaders agreed last month to denuclearise the region, at a border summit which came after months of warlike rhetoric from the North and Mr Trump.

But Korea expert Robert Kelly believes it is the "arrogance of outsiders" to think sanctions created the current talks and that Pyongyang is reaching out now because it can finally protect itself with a missile capable of reaching the US.

The South Korean-based organisation is a four-member team which is responsible for affairs with North Korea.

There is still the possibility that President Trump could change his mind and decide he would prefer to meet in Panmunjom village in the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

"It may also be that they have conducted enough nuclear tests, enough missile tests, that they're pretty confident with their capabilities", he said, commenting on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's recent willingness to discuss denuclearization with the USA and South Korean leaders.

"I heard that we will reset the time on May 5", said a worker at Ryuwon Footwear Factory.

The presidential office said in a statement that the two leaders would "have an in-depth discussion over ways to make sure the North-U.S. summit will be successful on the back of achievements forged in the April 27 summit".

It will be the first ever meeting between the two countries' leaders. "Just asking!" Mr. Trump said on Twitter late last month.

It is believed the pair could meet in Singapore in mid-June according to South Korean media reports.

The White House, meanwhile, has announced a separate meeting between Trump and Moon at the White House on May 22 to "continue their close co-ordination on developments regarding the Korean Peninsula".

It wouldn't be conducive to resolving the issue of denuclearization when Washington miscalculated northkorea's "peace loving intention" because an indicator of fatigue and proceeded to chase its own pressure and army threats, KCNA explained.

Trump on Friday also heavily hinted that the release of three Americans by North Korea was in the offing, but again was sparing on the details. As of May 6, 2018, the prisoners have not been released; however, it has been reported they have been moved to the capital.
