When officers arrived, they found the suspect armed with a handgun, Perez said.
Police were notified of an "active shooter" in the Trump-owned club about 1:30 a.m., Doral Police Chief Hernan Organvidez told news reporters.
Four officers entered the lobby and confronted the man. Officers shot the man who was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center. According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the suspect was shot by responding officers, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
An officer was also injured, but not from gunfire.
One officer received an unspecified injury. "And he had an American flag that he did drape over the counter", Perez said. "We are not discounting anything at this point", he said.

The Doral Police Department says on its website Friday morning there is "no further threat".
