Siri spews curse word when asked to define 'mother — NSFW

When asked to "define the word mother".

From telling jokes to giving hilarious responses, it's well-known that Siri has quite the sense of humor. Skipping all the alternative, Siri defines it as a noun which is a short for "motherfucker".

Apparently her response is such because "mother****er" is listed as an alternate, vulgar slang definition in the Oxford Dictionary, Ars Technica reports. But "mother" has different meanings, and as such, Siri prompts the user if they want to read the next result.

That being said, getting Siri to swear has turned out to be a sport for iOS users and while many have reached a dead end, a couple of users managed to do the same by just asking the definition of "Mother", which is one of the most common words we use every day.

It's worth mentioning that Siri's insensitive response isn't Apple's fault entirely.

According to Gizmodo, Sheryl Brahnam, a faculty member in Missouri State University's Computer Information System Department, somewhere between 10 to 50 percent of human interactions with AI are abusive. The expletive from this particular "bug" is even laughable because of Siri's delivery.

For those unaware, Siri is a built-in "intelligent assistant" that enables users of Apple iPhone 4S and later and newer iPad and iPod Touch devices to speak natural language voice commands in order to operate the mobile device and its apps.

What is indeed amusing is how much of the comments in the Reddit thread seem to take issue on how awful Siri is in pronouncing English words in anything but American English. For added fun, switch the voice accent to Australian or British (Settings Siri & Search Siri Voice).
