The company has been dropping teasers for the Xiaomi Redmi S2 for the longest time and could be a new smartphone range that could fit between the affordable Redmi and the budget Redmi Note series.
Pre-orders for Redmi Note 5 start tomorrow on Lazada, and the device can be purchased offline from the Mi Stores starting May 5. As for Redmi S2 price, the report suggests that the hand set will cost beneath CNY 1000 (approximately Rs. 10,600) at launch, although it isn't clear which RAM + storage variant this cost will be right for. The Redmi S2 will ship with Android 8.1 atop Xiaomi's proprietary MIUI 9 skin. It will feature a 5.99-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. There are three variants of the phone which are - 3GB RAM/32GB inbuilt storage and 4GB or 6GB RAM/64GB of inbuilt storage options. Also, the measurements of this Redmi S2 is going to soon be 160.7×77.3×8.1mm, while fat is expected to be 170 grams. Under the hood, the Redmi S2 is expected to pack a 3,080mAh battery, 4G VoLTE support, and a microSD card slot. Ther also lies dual rear cameras which are vertically aligned below the antenna lines. The teaser of the smartphone also shows the rear panel of the phone. On the front, you will either get a 5 MP or a 16 MP camera.
Shi said the Malaysian market remained attractive amid the maturing global smartphone market. According to the listing, Redmi S2 will join the company's growing list of phones with edge-to-edge full screen. There appear to be not many changes apart from these in terms of the design. With what have seen so far, the Redmi S2 offers a more promising value with its better camera and software even though the display resolution might be lower.
