Apple unveils improved photos, iPhone addiction tool

Also, expect new iPhone apps since the iOS App Store has been a huge money maker for Apple, and for its developers. FaceTime feature, according to Apple, will be integrated into messages which will let users transit a group chat into a group video call.

With concerns growing over our smartphone addictions, Apple is introducing a tool to help users better manage their time on their devices. Additionally, users will also get a new ScreenTime feature which will let users limit how much time they spend on their device. "The latter is becoming especially important as Apple leans more heavily on services - which require more ongoing collaboration than a gadget does - to make its money". A recent Bloomberg report said this new "Digital Health" feature will be offered in in iOS 12 settings.

And it appears Apple is set to follow suit.

Users will be able to try out the first Apple-made AR app, the simple and useful Measure, a digital tape measure.

Apple is also implementing multi-user AR apps, which allows a single AR experience to be used between multiple iPhones, for a multi-user experience. What remains to be seen is whether there is enough of a compelling reason for someone to use AR, even if it's built into everyday apps. Lastly, Apple also added 14 new workouts to the mix, including popular activities such as yoga and hiking. When a friend receives photos from an event, Apple will then suggest that the friend reciprocate with photos from the same event. It's similar to how Google already encourages sharing through its own Photos app for both iPhones and Android devices. With this feature, the watch will give you an alert when it's detected you've started a popular kind of workout.

Apple will preview the next major updates for its iPhone, Mac, Apple TV and Watch software, though the operating systems themselves won't be available to the public until later this year.

In other announcements, there have been rumours of a new version of the company's iPhone SE being in development which could also be unveiled at the conference, as could a rumoured cheaper version of the HomePod smart speaker.
