Boston will be healthy next season and depending on what happens with LeBron and his free agency, the Celtics should be considered the early favorite in the East.

As most already know, Hayward suffered a gruesome leg injury only 5 minutes into his Celtics debut, which sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Irving said his backup, Terry Rozier, proved he's an National Basketball Association starter but that "turns into an unbelievable dynamic" for Boston next season. The duo made three straight trips to the NBA Finals, winning a championship in 2016.

They're technically right too.

"I'm feeling good, man", Irving said on Tuesday. I don't think [impending free agency will] necessarily have an effect. Irving's response about his future with the Celtics certainly isn't reassuring to green teamers, but it's also important to remember that this is Kyrie Irving.

"In this business, I've experienced it all and I've seen a lot", he tactfully replied, "so we'll see what management decides".

Irving said that's a discussion to be had after the upcoming season.

"I am truly grateful to speak with management as well as our coaching staff", Irving said. So you don't really try to control that narrative. While he confirmed he likely is not signing an extension this offseason, he said any conversations about a new contract will have to wait.

"I don't really think for him the basketball decision of saying 'oh, let me go team up with three All-Stars, ' I think at this point in his life it's more so of a lifestyle thing, you know, 'where my family going to be the most comfortable at?"

It's the kind of thing that makes you raise your eyebrows if you're a Celtics fan or a person who wants Irving suiting up for their team some day. Until I get to that point, then I can't really answer any questions.

The Celtics expect Irving to be completely recovered by the start of training camp in the fall. "They gained a lot of experience, and now it can only help us going forward".

Regardless of what the reaction from the local crowd would be, James coming to Boston is far-fetched but is not out of the realm of possibility.
