Kevin Durant, who top scored with 43 points, sealed the win with a three-pointer with 49.8 seconds remaining. If Cleveland could by some miracle come back to win the series, it would be the first time in National Basketball Association history a team overcame a 3-0 deficit to win a series.
"Let's just speak truth", James said during a media session of about 20 minutes Thursday, when he explained the Warriors are loaded with two former MVPs in Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, plus Klay Thompson "who could easily ... carry a team".
James threw a pass to himself off the backboard for a slam dunk as Cleveland raced to a 16-4 early lead. "[That's why they] went out and got KD, to where there's really not much pressure on - you know, I won't say "any of them" to score, but if one of them has a bad game, they have three or four guys that can actually pick up the load".
In the last two Games 3s in the Finals, Kyle Korver has missed wide-open 3s, Durant burned them with 3s at critical junctures, and the Cavs suffered lapses (like the third quarter on Wednesday) they couldn't afford.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - On a night when most of the Golden State Warriors didn't have it, Kevin Durant went on an offensive explosion.
All of these events were downright ideal for the Cavs: Stephen Curry's shooting game was terrible for most of the night, Klay Thompson's wasn't much better, the Cavs led by as many as 13 in the first half and some non-producers from the first two games of these NBA Finals were starting to finally give James the contributions he's craved.More news: Alexander Zverev is finally realising his potential in show of stamina
The Cavaliers have lost the first two games, but James' wardrobe didn't hurt his performance.
"It's definitely a tough loss", James said.
And just like past year, he drilled it.
"I just tried to stay in the zone", Durant said. Golden State is still the team to beat, and Durant is what puts them above every other contender.
Despite the magnitude of his 3-pointer, Durant acted like he had been there before, bypassing a celebration for a stone face.
After adding wing players like Jordan Clarkson and Rodney Hood, as well as GM Koby Altman saying they wanted to get more minutes for rookie Cedi Osman, the excuse was that there weren't enough minutes for Wade in Cleveland.
"That was the best team I've ever played against", James said of that Golden State squad.
