Near the end of yesterday's WWDC keynote, Craig Federighi shared that Apple was at work on tools that would enable developers to more efficiently bring their iOS apps to the Mac.

There's also the Dynamic Desktop feature, and a revamped Finder, and Desktop Stacks, which automatically arranges files on the desktop by tag, date, type, and more. In the tweet below, you can see an example of an iOS he's ported to Mac.

Apple said the new News, Stocks, Voice Memos, and Home apps were ported from iOS to the Mac desktop from their original iOS codebase, and starting with late 2019, these features should be available for the rest of iOS/Mac app developers as well.

"There are millions of iOS apps out there, and some of them would be great on the Mac", Federighi said.

Earlier this year, a handful of outlets reported that Apple would delay some big iOS 12 features to focus on quality and performance. It will also make it more hard for marketers to track users. Apple is also ensuring that the Mac App Store has the same standard as the iOS 11 App Store with weekly updates from its editorial team.
