Fans have already begun to speak out in support of her return.
Creutz compared the Solo teaser to the first teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, noting that the first 35 or so seconds of Rogue One's teaser focus exclusively on Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and sold her as the film's protagonist, while Solo failed to make that sort of impression with viewers.
"Rose Tico was unequivocally one of the highlights of 'The Last Jedi, '" Nanjiani tweeted in reaction to the news about Tran's harassment. "I was terrified of being picked apart, of being scrutinized, of being seen", the actress wrote in an IG caption last October, when she was still relatively unknown.
But it appears that at the weekend the actress deleted all of her posts, after what fans noted had followed months of online racial and sexual harassment.
For years, Tran chose to stay away from social media - in fear that she'd get ripped to shreds.

The Star Wars cinematic universe continues to grow, but its fandom continues to be overrun with problematic trolls.
But since her debut, Tran's social media accounts have been hit hard by racist and sexist comments according to reports, prompting speculation that the abuse is behind Tran deleting her posts. It would be really sad if she has been forced off it by a vocal minority of idiots.
Asian Americans on Twitter have also expressed the importance of seeing themselves represented onscreen in a major film franchise.
What do you think of Creutz's analysis of Solo and Disney's handling not just of this film in particular, but the Star Wars franchise in general?
The popular Twitter account, Star Wars Facts, sent out a tweet, saying, "Kelly Marie Tran has deleted all the posts off her Instagram due to months of harassment she has received for her character Rose in #TheLastJedi". When angry Star Wars nerds were furious about The Phantom Menace and the other prequels almost 20 years ago, they merely vented about it on message boards among their fellow nerds.
"Behind all that they are real people with real feelings that deserve respect".
