Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the rhythm game legend best known for hits like Lumines, Child of Eden and Rez, unveiled his latest creation on Wednesday. Tetris Effect supports up to 4K60FPS visuals, and optional PSVR use - yep, as is the deal with a lot of PSVR titles recently the hardware isn't required to play.
The first of Sony's PlayStation Countdown to E3 2018 announcements is Tetris Effect for PS4 and PS VR. He then went on to confirm that Tetris Effect runs at 4K in 60fps on the PS4 Pro and is playable in full HD on the PS4.
The trailer for the game which you can watch below is a little odd but it points towards a puzzle game that offers a brand new take on Tetris. Finally, there's a new gameplay feature that sounds promising: The "Zone" mechanic will allow players to stop time so they can get themselves out of a sticky situation, or perhaps take advantage of the still Tetriminos to build up some huge combos (clearing 12 lines at once is apparently possible).

It sounds like the game will include multiple classic play modes, in addition to new modes and options.
