McGregor was arrested, but was sentenced last month to perform five days of community service, avoiding jail time in a plea deal.
Diaz had little to say during the press conference, but he still managed to send a loud statement as a hype reel played over the fighters to announce McGregor-Nurmagomedov.
McGregor, who once held two titles in the UFC, led a band of associates into Barclays Center in Brooklyn in April and vandalized a bus occupied by Nurmagomedov and other UFC fighters. Many are expecting big fight announcements including Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor has posted several photos on social media this week hyping his physical fitness in advance of the announcement, which neither fighter attended.
McGregor was then asked if he'll fight Nurmagomedov before the end of the year, and responded by saying: "I believe so". However, instead of defending either the featherweight or lightweight title, McGregor opted for a boxing match with undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather.

Added Poirier: "We're going to show up, I promise you that".
Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, has said he would be happy to see his client take home $10 million for the bout, according to R-Sport.
