The Red Devils have so far added just three new signings this summer, as Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot and Fred have arrived, but Jose Mourinho is desperate for more additions.
The midfielder has been linked with a host of leading European clubs over the summer, with Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Milan all rumoured to be interested on signing the player.
A centre-back and a right-sided winger are understood to be at the top of the Portuguese tactician's wish list.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the Serbia global throughout the summer window, but it now seems as though the Red Devils could be set to make a fresh move to try and land him this week.More news: Republicans Only Force Stopping Trump Impeachment, Nunes Says
Manchester United are reportedly keen on Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Following his exploits for the club, the 23-year old gave a good account of himself in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Serbia, impressing with his strength and attacking intent.
Milinkovic-Savic is valued at €100million (£89m) by his club, a figure United would be able to stump up only in the event that Pogba left the club.
Lazio chiefs are now said to be ready to do business with Manchester United on the transfer of Sergel Savic only if the Premier League club meet their asking price. In order to do so, the Red Devils will have to smash their transfer record, with Lazio demanding €155 million for their prized asset.
Milinkovic-Savic has since been linked with Chelsea and Juventus, while Real Madrid and Barcelona could yet sign him with the La Liga transfer window open until August 31.
Well aware of Pogba's commercial value and the difficulty in finding a replacement at such a late stage in the transfer window, United are said to have rejected Barca's offer.
