Democrats across NY are choosing their candidates for governor, attorney general and the state Legislature in the nation's last primary election of 2018.

The nominating contest is the latest test for candidates from the party's energized left wing as Democrats seek to regain control of the U.S. Congress and bolster their ranks in state governments across the country in November 6 elections. While a Nixon victory appears very unlikely, last-minute controversies surrounding the opening of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and a mailer to Jewish voters suggesting Nixon is anti-Semitic could haunt Cuomo and show that he is not without his own vulnerabilities.

The mailer said Nixon opposes funding for Jewish schools, supports "racist, xenophobic" calls to boycott Israel over its treatment of Palestinians, and that she has been "silent on the rise of anti-Semitism". To that end, she has run aggressively on a campaign to fix the subway, pinning the decrepit state of the system on her opponent.

Nixon has never officially supported BDS, but in 2010 signed a letter with a 150 other U.S. actors, directors and artists voicing her support for Israeli actors who refused to perform in the Jewish state's controversial settlements in the West Bank. "Nothing could be further from the truth", said Nixon.

Should she pull off the impossible it will be a humiliating blow to a governor said to harbor presidential ambitions, and who served as a cabinet secretary under Bill Clinton at the tender age of 39.

Now the New York Times reports that the flier was drafted and approved by two men with close ties to Cuomo.

"To break through, that requires a lot of money and organization", Michael Miller, professor of political science at Barnard College. I said that as soon as it came to light, as soon as I saw it.

NY has a notoriously opaque voting system.

"If he wins tomorrow, and if the margin is not as big as he wants, and if he doesn't get the lieutenant governor that he wants, he's not going to be a happy camper", Ms. Zaino said.

Cuomo's ticket is also in danger of being thwarted by insurgent candidates. Leecia Eve, a former Cuomo aide, was in fourth.

State attorney general candidate Tish James was also at the pep rally, which was attended by dozens of local and state lawmakers.

Attorney general candidate Zephyr Teachout, who launched an unsuccessful primary bid against Cuomo in 2014, has been endorsed by Sen.

The victor will face Republican Marc Molinaro in the fall. He's spent millions on ads and tried to make the race about Republican President Donald Trump, arguing that he's the best qualified to govern and push back against the White House.
