One the best moments from the 70th annual Primetime Emmys was Emmy victor Glenn Weiss' surprise proposal to his then-girlfriend Jan Friendlander Svendsen during his acceptance speech, and the magic continued on Tuesday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". "The person most proud in this moment would be my mom, and she passed away just two weeks ago", he continued.
"Jan, you are the sunshine in my life", he told an incredulous Ms Svendsen.
He went on to slip his mom's wedding ring on her finger "with our parents watching from above". "Do you know why I don't like to call you my girlfriend", he wondered aloud.
Svendsen got up on stage for the formal, knee-bent proposal as Weiss presented her with the same ring that his father gave his mother 67 years ago and asked her to marry him.
He won his 12th Emmy Award for directing the Oscars Awards show but it was a different yes that made director Glenn Weiss the biggest victor of the night. He directed the Tony Awards beginning in 2001 (the 55th Annual) through 2018. "Will you marry me?" "But she's in me and she always will be", he added.More news: At least three dead as powerful typhoon hits Philippines
Backstage at the event, Lara Spencer asked Weiss what was more exciting: winning the Emmy or proposing.
'He could have been a man and gone to them first and said, 'Hey, I'm planning on doing this. Before her current position as Chief Creative Officer for the Charity Network in charge of all of the content generated by Charity Network, Prizeo, and Charitybuzz, Svendsen served 17 years at The Broadway League.
With a camera pointed at a happily stunned Svendsen, the crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
After the awards show, the couple stopped for a few questions from the media. Only an awards director would know how to pull off a live proposal mid-show, right?
