Maroon 5 continues the NFL's recent shift away from the classic rock acts that headlined numerous Super Bowls of the early aughts. Maybe they'd even do something with Levine's The Voice co-stars! If Maroon 5 can shake up the layout of an iconic venue certainly they can deliver when it comes to taking on the iconic Super Bowl.
So, who could Maroon 5 bring out?
Maroon 5 is the kind of performance - overwhelmingly pop and commercial - that we'd typically expect from a Super Bowl halftime show.More news: Uncle: Man killed by officer aspired to St. Lucia leadership
The group is now touring in support of their 2017 album Red Pill Blues, with their final show of 2018 taking place in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve. Maroon 5's most recent hit was a tag team with Cardi B, "Girls Like You", listed as one of the top songs of the summer by recent streaming service charts. No word yet if either collaborator will be joining Levine and his bandmates at the Super Bowl.
The point is, Maroon 5 is blah and boring and not very Atlanta. So just because Maroon 5 is playing, it doesn't mean that the National Football League can't also bring in someone like Ludacris or Janelle Monae.
If they can't get Cardi, they can call up any of the people they recently collaborated with. Other Super Bowl acts include Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé. They're going to give us all the hits!
