He tweeted a video from his view on the jet's upper deck.
In a statement, Emirates said that "about" 10 passengers became ill and local health authorities were alerted "as a precaution". Emirates airline said they included seven crew members and three passengers.
The plane was quarantined Wednesday at Kennedy Airport.
More than 100 people were reported feeling ill, with symptoms including fever and coughing.
It is not yet known what's caused the passengers to take unwell.
Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the airport.

All passengers were met on the tarmac by CDC to also undergo medical screening, before being released.
Sick passengers were dispatched to hospitals for care, the CDC said.
In an earlier tweet, Phillips suggested that the mystery illness could be influenza, noting that some of the passengers had come from Mecca, which he reported was experiencing a flu outbreak.
Emergency vehicles were seen on the runway as it landed.
Reports suggest symptoms point to the flu.
"Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on board flight EK203 from Dubai to NY were taken ill", the spokeswoman said.
Emirates confirmed to People that the Centers for Disease Control staff and Port Authority officials from NY and New Jersey were on the scene when the plane arrived.
The New York State Department of Health did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
