New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio had been briefed on the incident, his spokesman Eric Phillips wrote on Twitter.

Emergency vehicles were seen on the runway as it landed. He tweeted a video from his view on the jet's upper deck.

The plane was quarantined Wednesday at Kennedy Airport.

The plane, an Emirates double-decker Airbus A380 traveling from Dubai, had landed shortly after 9 a.m. local time (1310 GMT), according to the airline. Health workers were evaluating about the passengers as the airplane sat on the tarmac of the airport, authorities said. "We've got news stations and police and a bunch of ambulances".

Shortly after, a passenger on board, Larry Coben, tweeted that passengers were now being allowed off after filling out paperwork from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
