The Netflix series will come to an end for good with season seven in 2019 and the cast are already saying their goodbyes.
In a surprise video announcement, the cast and creators shared the news that we'll all have to say goodbye to the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary next year.
While Schilling's character was the entry-point into the show, Orange Is the New Black introduced a diverse cast that includes Uzo Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Laverne Cox, Dascha Polanco, Danielle Brooks, Selenis Leyva, Samira Wiley, Taryn Manning, Yael Stone, Jackie Cruz, Lea DeLaria, Adrienne C. Moore and Elizabeth Rodriguez, along with Michael Harney and Nick Sandow.
"After seven seasons, it's time to be released from prison", showrunner Jenji Kohan said.
"But the one thing is, our relationships will continue after the show", Prepon, aka Alex Vause, assured, with Schilling, aka Piper Chapman, later thanking the fans for their loyalty throughout the years: "Thank you so much for all of your support".
Aduba added a special teaser for the upcoming final season of the series, promising a season that fans will never forget.More news: Two Koreas pledge to boost ties
Taryn Manning called the show "an incredible journey, an awesome experience"; Dascha Polanco called it "a hell of a ride"; while Selenis Leyva said what she will miss most after seven seasons 'is you - the fans'. "And we're going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted".
The show was renewed for a seventh season back when Orange was given a three-season pickup order ahead of season four.
The news comes soon after two other series, "House of Cards" and "Iron Fist", were canceled by Netflix.
Based on the memoir by Piper Kerman and created by Jenji Kohan, OITNB has ranked as one of Netflix's most-watched original series throughout its run.
