It's now a legal requirement to have a medical first aider in most workplaces, but there's no provision for mental health first aiders in the same way, and we want this to change.

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place this week with World Mental Health Day on Wednesday 10th October.

Dr Bente Mikkelsen, Director of the Division of Noncommunicable Diseases and Promoting Health through the Life-course at WHO/Europe, states, "It is important to protect the younger generations as they are the future leaders". "Mental health is something that fluctuates throughout a lifetime and with more support it makes people more functional".

Obaseki explained that people with mental health problems deserve our love, care, understanding and support and urged thought and opinion leaders in communities across the globe to lead the fight against exclusion, stigma and prejudices held against sufferers of mental illnesses.

"Enabling access to mental healthcare and treatment is an integral part of finding long-term solutions", Dr AlBlooshi added. In addition, approximately half (52 percent) would use a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence to support their mental wellbeing, and slightly more (55 percent) believe that virtual reality can be helpful in managing mental health issues.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: "We're already making progress when it comes to suicide prevention, the suicide rate is at its lowest for seven years". We have commenced the construction of primary health centres across the state to reach all Edo people and residents irrespective of where they reside.

Armed conflict and natural disasters pose significant challenges to the long-term mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of affected populations. But, with the ever increasing problems that lead to mental health issues there needs to be combined effort to prolong initiatives that raise awareness and educate masses.

Nearly one in 10 teenage deaths in South Africa every year are the result of suicide, the Psychiatry Management Group (PsychMG) said today.

"In Gibraltar, the community has also become more aware of the importance of mental health for very unfortunate reasons - the shocking number of tragic deaths in the last few years". This training gives people the ability to spot signs of mental illness and the skills to support themselves or others, including how to talk about a subject often seen as taboo.

It also warns of falling numbers of child psychiatrists, at a time when demand continues to rise.

"Finding out how many people get the illnesses was surprising, knowing how common it actually is".

After that, trying to bridge the gap between personal and professional lives in a positive way can be hard, but Barwise says it's ultimately important to encourage people to share if they feel comfortable.

Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of the medical journal the Lancet, which commissioned the report, said it highlighted the "shameful and shocking treatment of people with mental ill health around the world".
