Cruz went head-to-head with O'Rourke's unconventional campaigning efforts, which included visiting every county in Texas and refusing campaign donations from political action committees.
Jim Carrey encouraged Democrat Texans to "vote like there's no tomorrow" on Twitter, and he took shots at Ted Cruz by calling him a "bloodsucker", which was depicted in an original drawing by Carrey. Triumph asks Beto O'Rourke before adding, "besides the ability to regenerate your tail?" Triumph's comeback: "Hey, I support spaying!" He refers to him as "the 12th man on any basketball team" and asks questions like "Does it concern you that half your base thinks they can vote for you through Instagram?"
Then Triumph made his way over to the Ted Cruz rally, or a "Duck Dynasty cosplay convention".
O'Rourke had reminded voters of Cruz's original Trump moniker - "Lyin' Ted" - when the candidates last faced off against each other in late October.

What pundits are saying: Nate Silver reports that Cruz's lead narrowed, noting that one of the polls they cite is a Democrat polling outlet, but FiveThirtyEight is still marking the seat as "Likely R", with a 7-in-9 chance Cruz wins (78.8%). Conservatism is a hell of a drug.
"I just want to say to Triumph, my advice is walk away", Cruz quipped. Broadcast Monday night on the "Late Show with Stephen Colbert", Triumph the Insult Comic Dog - a cigar-smoking hound puppet - mocked O'Rourke, Cruz and their supporters.
Colbert noted that Triumph had been unsuccessful in confronting Senator Ted Cruz during the 2016 Republican presidential primary, but Triumph's luck was a bit better this time around.
